About ToyBin

ToyBin is a collection of photos from my personal Transformers collection. When I was collecting the bulk of my transformers I referenced Rework's Transformers Parts Identification Aid website quite a lot to see what accessory went to what toy. The one thing I really wanted was to be able to view all of the accessory photos at the same time and to have photos of the toys for the times when I would have an accessory, but not recognize the name of the toy.

Site history

When I was young I fondly remember watching the Transformers TV show and playing with the toys. My wife Jen who was buying care bears off e-bay bought me a few small transformers. At the time I was living in California and without a car, so I spent quite a lot of time at work, consequently I started collecting the Transformer toys to populate my cube. I collect predominantly the toys from 1984 through 1986 and the newer alternator series.

In 2005 I took at job in Oslo Norway and Me and my wife put the majority of our belongings in storage. I knew that if I didn't take the time to photograph the toys then,I wouldn't have another chance for a long time. So before packing up my Transformers I spent almost two weeks straight dawn to dusk photographing them. Minus one or two modes that I somehow skipped I got all of the generation one toys photographed in all their modes.

For those who are curious I took a photo of my photographing setup. How I got white backgrounds. It really comes down to lighting. Using posterboard to defuse and bounce the light behind the toy I was able to create a nice white background.
